The lead up to Hollywood’s biggest night kicks off tonight with the Golden Globe Awards. The Golden Globes don’t necessarily dictate who will win an Oscar next month, but it gives audiences an idea about how the awards race is shaping up, with potentially a surprise or two in store.
As someone that has been talking up Rocketman since last May, I would love to see a win for Taron Egerton. His turn as Elton John was one of my personal favorite performances of 2019 and proved the actor to be quite the triple threat. Plus, a Golden Globes win could bolster his chance to pick up an Oscar nomination. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen as performances from both of the Drama and Musical or Comedy field of nominated actors is quite impressive.
With the show is getting ready to start, let’s get to my last-minute predictions, shall we? Being that I have seen most, but not all of the nominated films, I will note which films/performances I have yet to see. Here we go!
